Kültéri levegő beszívására szolgál elektromos szekrényekbe, ATM-ekbe, fizetési terminálokba, játékautomatákba, automatizálási szekrényekbe, vezérlőpanelekbe, benzinkutakba, vagy a felmelegedett levegő eltávolítására azokból hűtés céljából. Az IP megőrzése érdekében általában a dobozok (műanyag és fém) oldalfalaiba szerelik be.
